Constable Wright's Involvement in the Community

FIREBALL RUN

Charity run across the U.S.A. to bring awareness and to benefit the recovery of missing and exploited children. Each team is assigned a missing child from their region. All expenses are paid by each team participant and is televised as an Amazon Prime television series.

Every town along the way participated, or anticipated the arriving drivers. Towns such as this had large welcoming crowds.

The hood or the Dodge Charger was used to honor the five fallen Dallas officers. as well as other Collin County law enforcement.

Day 3 started in Allegany, Maryland

Constable Wright and Commissioner Fletcher

A close-up of the item Commissioner Fletcher held. This is a section of Abraham Lincoln's shawl he wore the night he was shot and killed. The shawl had been sectioned and divided among members of Lincoln's Cabinet.

As an example of a task, Constable Wright and Commissioner Fletcher had to first decipher clues they were given, piece them together then travel to where they believed the narrative lead them. In this instance, it was to a museum on a college campus. Here, a team member had to hold and display an prearranged relic of American History.

Starting point, beautiful Allegany, New York

Each team is given a clue that they must solve and complete the task for points. Starting in one town one day, the tasks took participants up to 200 miles each day to sites along the way to the nest town. Each stop would garner more clues, solve one task only to lead to another or, it just might be a 'fake' task, so the navigator had to always be on their toes!

Fireball Run

A Televised Race to find Americas Missing Children

Constable Joe Wright and Collin County Susan Fletcher, representing North Texas law enforcement, joined the search for America's missing children by joining the nationally televised series Fireball Run. The show is dedicated to bringing awareness to these victims in an effort to recover and prevent this crime from occurring.

Every year, the Fireball Run is held in different parts of the country. Frisco itself was the starting point from a previous show. Participants bare the expense of transportation, fuel, lodging, charity donations along the 2000 route and any other related expenses. Many business's and individuals in Collin County contributed as well as word spread about this effort. All involved were focused on the main goal of this event, to find America's missing children and to prevent such heartbreaking crimes from occurring.

Constable Wright and Commissioner Fletcher, also known as "Smokey and the Commish", traveled to Western New York for the start of the adventure that wound its way through several states, ending just north of Boston.

Each team was assigned a missing child from their respective areas. Our missing child was, and unfortunately still is, Amber Nicole Crum, DOB 09-25-81 and was last seen December 26, 1983. Though several leads resulted of this effort, the search continues.

Hurricane Harvey

Harvey made landfall three times in six days. At its peak on September 1, 2017, one-third of Houston was underwater. Two feet of rain fell in the first 24 hours. Flooding forced 39,000 people out of their homes and into shelters. The men and women of the Collin County Pct.4 Constables Office reached out immediately to offer any assistance needed. Because of the threat of contaminated water, it was requested that any assistance in this area would be greatly appreciated. Leading the effort locally, Constable Wright received overwhelming offers to assist, namely from Constable Shane Williams, Celina Mayor Sean Terry, Sheriff Jim Skinner, UPS distribution management and the awesome support of the Celina Masonic Lodge @919

Pct. 4 became the collection site for the hurricane relief effort. Collin County assisted in sending a large truck to haul to the distribution point at UPS McKinney.

Without hesitation, UPS McKinney donated a semi trailer, truck and driver to transport the collected items to the delivery destination in Houston.

Our Celina neighbors really stepped up! They not only collected donated items from the Celina area, but helped in delivery to UPS as well volunteers to help with the loading and offloading.

Constable Shane Williams gathered some of his deputies who volunteered to assist in the effort as well. Constable Williams was instrumental in making contact with his friends at UPS to arrange delivery.

Pallets and pallets of bottled water were loaded and wrapped for delivery.

The Collin County community was incredible in their response to assist our neighbors to the south! We had people from all across North Texas, and outside of the state, donating or doing what they could to help.

Words cannot express the gratitude for the management at UPS Distribution in McKinney. They truly are a part of our community and are willing to do whatever it takes in time of great need.

The trailer is beginning to fill up with much needed donated items. Citizens, elected officials and community leaders worked side by side on a scorching day to get the job done.

In addition to water, there were plenty of other much needed, and requested items to load on board. Pallets of baby diapers, food, clothing etc. The immediate response to this call for help was simply incredible!
